Philip Dunn

Philip.jpg

Philip Dunn has lived in Ditchling for over 20 years now, he is still best known for his always optimistic, vibrant and evocative paintings of Brighton’s seafront, with its esplanade and beach, as well as the Birdcage Bandstand and Royal Pavilion, which have earned Philip Dunn a reputation over several decades as “Brighton’s favourite artist”.  In particular, his dazzling depictions of colourfully striped deckchairs have become a symbol of the city, whether they are shown empty and abandoned or plumply occupied, and with whatever the British seaside weather can throw at them. In 2019, Philip achieved a 'Highly Commended Artist of the Year' award by the Artist Open Houses association.

In May 2019 Philip exhibited at The Villa Studio for the Brighton Artist Open House event and received a highly commended Highly Commended certificate in the Artist of the Year Awards.
